We offer different courses at El Patio, but the content is pretty much the same − the difference is the pace you choose to study at. Select your ideal speed and you're ready to enrol!
Our classic, comprehensive language learning style. Clásico is our most popular course type offered in many time slots across our locations - giving you choice and flexibility! Each level builds on the last - from very beginner to fluency.
15-hour course, 1.5 hr class per week for 10 weeks
Comprehensive learning with the same content as the Clásico curriculum, but double the speed! This allows you to go through our levels twice as fast.
15-hour course, 3 hr class per week for 5 weeks
Take on two levels by booking back-to-back Rápido courses.
30-hour course, 3 hr class per week for 10 weeks
We run courses between term start dates and workshops, too.
We run all sorts of Spanish Language workshops ranging from pronunciation, to Tapas and Pintxos, and even sometimes slang and profanity!

A study pace for the fierce and determined, Intensives are a good way to keep up the momentum. We run intensives frequently, between terms.
Between 5 days - 2 weeks, run between terms
Each level runs over a term, so you can continue to progress through the levels as you re-enrol. If you you're wanting to keep progressing, choose the Express course or add another term on when you enrol.

I've taken four courses at El Patio because it's a very welcoming and fun place to study Spanish!
You may have questions like who joins our classes, or can I bring tacos (the answer is always yes). We're here to make your learning journey fun, impactful and easy.
That’s normal! Life is busy and sometimes things get in the way of our Spanish learning journey! If you do need to miss a class, there are several ways you can catch up.
1. Complete the homework and work covered on your own at home - after every class the teacher will send out a brief summary of what was covered and the homework set. Using your book you’ll be able to follow along and come to the next class with questions about anything you don't understand.
2. Attend another class that week. These are best arranged ahead of time so simply send and email or get in touch with reception.
3 Complete our online video modules. We have video content for all the Beginner levels so no one falls behind! These are accessed via your student portal.
Our classes are small, between 4-14 with an average of 7.
We teach using the communicative technique. This means we focus on real-world use of language while still teaching the essentials of grammar. We like to get you speaking from the very first class so you can get your mouth and ears around the language from the get-go.
Don’t be alarmed if you don’t always know exactly what your teacher is saying, you’re not meant to understand every word all the time! The aim is to try to figure things out by context, they will be giving you clues! Of course, plenty of English is used in our beginner levels to explain and clarify along the way and your textbook instructions will be in English too. Gradually throughout the levels, less and less English is used until you don’t need it anymore!
Never fear! We have a level for everyone and you're more than welcome to try another class to see if it's a better fit. If you're not 100% sure about the level when you sign up, a good idea is not to purchase and collect the textbook right at the start. This way you can try the level and see if it's a good match before committing to the textbook (your perfect level may be using a different textbook!)
If after trying the Online Levels Tests you still don't feel sure about your level, have a look at the grammar content covered in each level. You can see what feels familiar and what looks foreign - you can also see what you might need to revise before attempting a level. It’s highly likely that a range of levels (rather than one exact level) would be appropriate for you to fit into.
If you’d prefer more of a challenge you can aim higher, or if practice and consolidation is your goal, you can jump into a lower level and work up. If you're still unsure, it's a good idea to get in touch! We can have a chat about your experience and goals and get a sense of which level you'd get the most out of.
If after finding your level online, it doesn't appear on the next Term's timetable, it's time to get in touch! With such a wide variety of classes on offer, there will surely be one to fit your needs, we just need to find it!
