We’re a passionate bunch! We specialise in teaching the Spanish language and have been doing so for over 20 years. We design our classes to be a fully immersive learning experience: full of energy, fun and curiosity − more akin to a social gathering than a lecture.
We call it the ‘El Patio Way’.
This is our way, and this has made El Patio the leading Spanish school in Melbourne and one of Australia’s best and most beloved language schools.
We simply adore what we do
Our team is built of those who seek to not only share their culture and passion, but to learn of others — and yours! Our curiosity is the lifeblood of our passion and search for connection. Our teachers are word zealots - dictionaries often come out at our parties! They are true masters of language, and treasure sharing their passion with eager students.
We inspire people to learn so they can discover new worlds
It’s through language that we connect with others, understand unfamiliar ways of thinking, feeling and existing — it’s how we can experience different places, people and stories without moving an inch. We love sharing in the energy and joy that comes from discovering new things.
Our community is like no other
Our students feel safe to learn and be challenged, as they are always welcomed and celebrated. Everyone says ‘community’ these days. Blame that on all things ‘social’. Yet, our community is different. It’s driven by a connection with people living through new moments, challenges and enlightenment. Pop us a follow and join the community.
We believe Spanish should be taught in a relaxed and fun environment.
It’s not just from our years of experience that we know this, there’s hard science behind it too. Dopamine, the chemical responsible for your brain’s reward system, is closely linked to successful learning and memory retention.
By making Spanish real, enjoyable and approachable, we know students are more likely to stick with it and end up speaking with confidence in the real world. So keep the good times rolling!
We have two campuses, both equally vibing and full of life and learning.

You can't do better than this school! It's a very well organised school. They have so many levels you will find the right class for you. Great teachers, fun and just the right amount of challenge.
“
After becoming frustrated at my lack of progress with their competitor, I received a recommendation for the classes at El Patio. Since enrolling I have never looked back.
“
I never shut up about how much I like my classes, pretty sure my colleagues and all my friends are getting sick of hearing about it.
“
After finding another company frustrating and unenthusiastic, El Patio has reinvigorated my excitement for learning Spanish...
“
The teachers are welcoming and seem to love what they do, which brings passion to each class. The homework and resources are highly organised and professional. I would highly recommend El Patio Spanish
“
As a retired teacher, I know good teaching when I see it, and the teachers at El Patio are absolutely wonderful - caring, professional and fun.
