Gerundio is the "gerund", commonly known in English as the -ING form. It basically means to put -ING at the end of the stem of a verb. In Spanish it is used similarly as it is in English (with one good exception) - to express actions that are happening in the moment or to talk about temporary situations. In Spanish, we add -ANDO at the end of the verbs that end in -AR, and -IENDO to the verbs that end in -ER and -IR. Read on ...
Presente indicativo de estar + gerundio: Estoy estudiando español
Ejemplo:
¿Qué estás haciendo? – Estoy leyendo un libro.
Ejemplo:
Yo normalmente trabajo en el centro de la ciudad, pero este mes estoy trabajando en las afueras.
Estás bebiendo mucho café últimamente.
Marcos siempre está viendo la tele.
Estás todo el día jugando videojuegos y no haces nada productivo.
Of course there are! It wouldn’t be Spanish without irregular verbs!
E> I / O > U Decir: diciendo, pedir: pidiendo, dormir: durmiendo
El gerundio de -IR es yendo.
If the root of the verb ends in a vowel, then it is formed by adding + yendo: Leer: leyendo, oir: oyendo, traer: trayendo.
