Staff Picks - Ben's Summer Playlist!
Suggestions for your summer listening - in Spanish! Our first Spotify playlist of songs has been created by Ben Wright-Smith, not only one of our Melbourne admin assistants, but a singer-songwriter in his own right. Listen, follow or share!
Ben began his love affair with Spanish music from hearing Cuban megastars ‘Buena Vista Social Club’, guiding him through his first travelling adventures through Central and South America and eventually settling in behind front desk of El Patio’s Melbourne centre.
Surf, sun & lazy days by the beach emanate from these sounds and set the tone for a perfect Summer in Spanish, no matter where you find yourself.
This playlist is comprised mainly of contemporary alternative-folk, laid-back-Indie Rock and textured Electronic Pop. It features artists from all over the globe including; Venezuelan born freaky-beatnik Devendra Banhart, Bossa-Nova infused Pop from Mexico’s Natalia Lafourcade, the sample heavy Afrobeat and Tropicália of El Guincho and of course, finishing the list with the soulful sounds of Cuban ‘Queen of Salsa’, Celia Cruz.
